Holtek is delighted to announce the release of its new wearable peripheral integration BS45F583x series, the BS45F5830/31/32/33. This new series of devices include a range of functions such as touch keys, a lithium battery charger, a power supply regulator LDO and a vibration motor driver. The series is supplied in a 24-pin DFN (3mm×3mm) small package having a thickness of only 0.55mm, making it especially suitable for low profile applications such as smart watches and smart wristbands, etc.
The BS45F583x series provides up to 4 touch keys all of which have high noise immunity features. Smart wristbands require 1~2 water-proof touch keys while smart watches require 4 water-proof touch keys. The series also includes an integrated lithium battery charger whose constant current can be configured within a range of 40mA~400mA using software. The BS45F5830/32 provides a constant voltage of 4.2V, while the BS45F5831/33 provides a constant voltage of 4.35V, which can be selected according to the user’s lithium battery characteristics.
The conventional communication method for smart wearable products in the market is the Bluetooth interface. This series of devices provides a high PSRR LDO function, differing in voltage output according to part number. The BS45F5830/31 provides a 3.3V LDO function while the BS45F5832/33 provides a 3.0V LDO function. These can provide power for smart wearable Bluetooth MCUs, and provides an integrated large current output of 150mA, which can directly drive vibration motors.
This series of MCUs will integrate the peripheral components required by wearable products, greatly reducing PCB areas. Holtek also fully supports the device with a comprehensive suite of hardware and software development tools. The supporting software includes a touch key function library which enables designers to develop their products more rapidly by eliminating the need to write code for the touch key functions. The hardware development tool is known as the e-Link which works together with an OCDS evaluation MCU to provide users with an actual MCU device.
